Futbol!

GOOLLLLLLLL!!! Thanks to Pat we made it happen to catch the Boca-River game in Mendoza on the last night we were there. 35k in sold out attendance to see the final game of the summer tournament. Much cooler and more festive vibe in Mendoza ... (neither of these teams are from Mendoza) ... and tons of stunts and crowd pleasing antics, as well as a really good game made for a great night out (fewer riot police etc.). Boca and River are the arch-rival teams from Buenos Aires.

Half the stadium was the Boca section and half was the River section and we were in the neutral middle section. Songs were sung ... cheers were cheered ... fireworks and flag waving all night. The greasy River crew used a combination of speed, incredible ball control and some questionable intentional fouls to best the Boca crew 3-2. Damn good game and especially so sitting next to Pat (who coaches soccer) because he provided the color and inside insights.

Look closely ... that is a huge banner floating on top of thousands of fans ...

Golllll!

The red-white-black of the River side.

The Boca side gets sprayed down by firemen with fire hoses ...

Good times!
