there are few things better than the comfort and love of friends and family. although i now live far away, it still remains true that nothing changes the depth and closeness of people dear to my heart. and if you must go to Florida, do it in November!! the weather was PERFECT, and that can not be said about that place very often . . . 70's during the day, 60's at night . . . oy! the other November-related perk is stone crab claw season! if you don't know, i hope you one day find out!
unfortunately, i don't have pictures to share of the fam. and as usual, our time together was too short but very sweet. miraculously, my travel plans had me in town for my Uncle's birthday. to sweeten the occasion we flew Gail in to gather all together for the first time in at least 4 years. to celebrate, i actually recreated the ENTIRE contents of one of my favorite Grove dinners, the chimichurri steak dish. it was fantastic! and very fun to bring a little of The Grove back to my family in Florida. the other notable news is that my cousin, Jimmy, has a bona-fide girlfriend ... and i just about *died* when i saw him kiss her. whoa.
orlando was fantastic [aforementioned weather really helps]. really good eats, lots of sidewalk dining, really swanky and cool bars, lounges, etc, AMAZING music that was serendipitously occurring during my visit, and best of all: my peeps! it's sometimes hard to believe the quality of people we are nurtured by, near AND far.
here you go kids ... it's the illustrious John Stuart and his gorgeous family, including his lady, Ashley, his daughter, Michelle, and the newest edition, baby boy Cadence. i can report that the whole breeding thing is not exclusive to Bend.
Wendy, Heather, and Dorian [also joining the breeder regime!] aka MY GIRLS ( :
the Orlando Tribe, including Mom, minus a few faces. this was the breakfast send-off just before i departed Saturday morning for NYC. can't ya just feel the love?!?
